El Caco is a Norwegian stoner rock band from Lillestrøm , which was formed in 1998.

history

The band was formed in 1998 by bassist and singer Øyvind Osa, guitarist Anders Gjesti and drummer Thomas Fredriksen. After the band had developed the first songs, the debut album Viva was released in 2001 on Black Balloon Records in Norway and Music for Nations in Great Britain and Germany . The second album Solid Rest was also released in 2003 via Black Balloon Records . The album was produced by Daniel Bergstrand ( Meshuggah , In Flames ). Two years later the next album The Search was released , which reached number 22 on the Norwegian album charts, followed by the album From Dirt in 2007, which reached number 14 on the album charts. The next album, Heat, followed in 2009 and reached number 13 in the charts before Hatred, Love & Diagrams was released in January 2012 . The album reached number 21 in the album charts.

style

In addition to stoner rock bands like Kyuss , Queens of the Stone Age and Fu Manchu , influences from other genres like The Cure and Tool were also audible on the album Viva . In addition, elements from psychedelic rock were used . The second album Solid Rest is also dominated by classic stoner rock and influences from Tool, Queens of the Stone Age, The Hellacopters and Backyard Babies can be heard. On their third album, The Search , the band moved a little more away from classic stoner rock and expanded their musical spectrum, whereby the "hard songs became harder [...], the soft ones softer". The songs are comparable to the works of Tool, A Perfect Circle , Deftones , Mustasch , The Cult and Dozer . The album From Dirt continues the concept of the previous album , with the songs being even more variable, especially in speed. The band also played variable stoner rock on their album Hatred, Love & Diagrams , inspired by groups like Kyuss or Monster Magnet .
