El Sena (also just: Sena ) is a town in the Pando department in the lowlands of the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

El Sena is the central place of the Municipio Sena in the province of Madre de Dios and is located at an altitude of 171  m on the right, southern bank of the Río Manupare in the immediate vicinity of its confluence with the Río Madre de Dios , which is 224 kilometers downstream Riberalta united with the Río Beni .

The town of El Sena is located in the Bolivian part of the Amazon basin in the northern part of the country, about 120 kilometers as the crow flies south of the border with Brazil.

El Sena is located at a distance of 250 kilometers by road southeast of Cobija , the capital of the department, at an important river crossing.

El Sena is located on the 370 km long national road Ruta 13 , which leads east from Cobija to El Triangulo (El Choro) , from where the rest of the Bolivian national road network can be reached. From Cobija the Ruta 13 crosses Porvenir , Puerto Rico , where it crosses the Río Orthon , El Sena , where the Río Madre de Dios is crossed by ferry and Peña Amarilla on the Río Beni.
