El Triangulo (also: El Chorro or El Choro ) is a town in the Beni department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

El Triangulo is a village in the canton of Florida in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Riberalta in the province of Vaca Díez . The place is located at an altitude of 171  m in the bush region between Río Beni and Rio Guaporé south of the city of Riberalta . The place is located directly on the triangle of the highways Ruta 8 and Ruta 13 and takes its name from it and its raison d'etre in the largely uninhabited region.

El Triangulo is located in the Bolivian part of the Amazon basin in the northeast corner of the country near the border with Brazil .

The mean average temperature of the region is 26 ° C and fluctuates only slightly between 25 ° C in May and 27 to 28 ° C from December to February (see Riberalta climate diagram). The annual precipitation is about 1,300 mm, with a pronounced dry season from June to August with monthly precipitation below 20 mm, and a humidity period from December to January with monthly precipitation of more than 200 mm.

El Triangulo is located at a distance of 822 kilometers by road north of Trinidad , the capital of the department.

From Trinidad, the 602-kilometer Ruta 3 highway leads west to Yucumo and on to the capital La Paz . In Yucumo, Ruta 3 meets the end of 696 kilometers long Ruta 8 , which leads north via Rurrenabaque and Reyes , reaches El Triangulo after 541 kilometers and continues from there to Riberalta and Guayaramerín on the Brazilian border.

At El Triangulo, route 13 branches off to the west from route 8 , crosses the rivers Río Beni , Río Madre de Dios and Río Manuripi and after 370 kilometers reaches the city of Cobija , capital of the Pando department .
