The municipality of Riberalta is a district in the Beni department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

The municipality of Riberalta is one of two municipalities in the province of Vaca Díez and is located in the western part of the province. It borders on the Pando Department in the west, the Ballivián Province in the southwest, the Yacuma Province in the southeast , and the Guayaramerín Municipality to the east and north .

The largest city and administrative center of the province is Riberalta with 78,754 inhabitants ( 2012 ) in the north-western part of the municipality on the Río Beni .

The municipality of Riberalta is located in the Bolivian part of the Amazon basin in the north of the country on the border with Brazil.

The mean average temperature of the region is 26 ° C and varies only marginally between 25 ° C in May and 27–28 ° C from December to February (see climate diagram). The annual precipitation is about 1,300 mm, with a pronounced dry season from June to August with monthly precipitation below 20 mm, and a humidity period from December to January with monthly precipitation of more than 200 mm.

The literacy rate among those over 19 is 91.8 percent, 94.9 percent for men and 88.5 percent for women ( 2001 ).
