Lobbe is a community for Moenchgut belonging village on the southeast of the Baltic island of Ruegen peninsula of Mönchgut . Before that, Lobbe was part of the Middelhagen community .

The village is located southeast of Middelhagen on the road 292 in the direction of Thiessow in the Southeast Rügen Biosphere Reserve . The Baltic Sea extends east of Lobbe. On the shore is the lobber place as a cape , in front of which the Fritz-Worm-Stein lies in the water as a boulder . Only a little west of the village on the covers Bay of Greifswald belonging Hagensche Wiek . To the north of the locality is the Great Lobber See, which is affected by clear silting tendencies . Even further north was the already silted up Kleine Lobber See . The north-west technical monument wind pumping station Lobbe is striking .

To the north of Lobbe and the Lobber Ort there was a one kilometer long Swedish field against a coastal landfall by the Prussians. The jumps on Rügen were created during the Swedish times. Several wars, from the 30-year-old to the Nordic and the Napoleonic invasion, as well as several disputes between Brandenburg / Prussia and Sweden (1675–79, 1759, etc.) have shaped the defense landscape of Rügen. Since they were only built as ramparts, reinforced with fascines, they slowly fell into disrepair due to erosion and overbuilding and are no longer readily visible today.

There is a larger campsite south of Lobbe. In 1807 the camp of the landing troops from England to support Sweden in the fight against Napoleon was located in the same place.

A part of the dyke systems in Lobbe runs with a well-developed cycle path past the wind pumping station to Middelhagen.

During the GDR era, a state- owned housing association built and maintained a company holiday camp for the children of its employees, which has been falling into disrepair since 1990.

In the past, the inhabitants of the place lived mainly from fishing. Today, however, tourism dominates . There are various restaurants and hotels in the village.

On November 2, 1990, Angela Merkel, who was then applying for a directorship in the Bundestag, met several Lobber fishermen in a fisherman's hut in Lobbe . A photograph of this meeting later became known as a typical motif for the first political steps of the future Chancellor. In 2009 the meeting was repeated in the same hut, but none of the fishermen pursued their original profession. The hut has now been torn down.
