Electric Castle

Electric Castle is a music festival focusing on electronic dance music on the grounds of Bánffy Castle in Bonțida , Cluj County in Romania . In addition to DJ sets and electro live acts, there are also performances by rock bands.

The festival first took place in 2013 with a three-day event and four stages. A total of over 30,000 spectators could be counted. The main act was Morcheeba . In the next year it was expanded to four days with five stages. The main acts were Die Antwoord and Thievery Corporation with over 70,000 guests. Over the next few years, the area was enlarged and there were more than 200,000 spectators. Artists included Jessie J , Skrillex , Fatboy Slim , Pan-Pot , Grandmaster Flash , The Prodigy , Sigur Rós , Deadmau5 , Florence + the Machine , Nils Frahm , Limp Bizkit .

In 2019 the festival was named the best medium-sized festival at the European Festival Awards .
