Eleonora Anatolevna Saweljewa ( Russian Элеонора Анатольевна Савельева * 15. November 1937 in the village Pyjedlino, Rajon Syssol , Komi ASSR ) is a Soviet - Russian historian , archaeologist and university lecturer .

Life

Savelyeva studied at the Gorky State University of the Urals in Sverdlovsk at the Faculty of History , graduating in 1959.

After graduation, Savelyeva was sent to Syktyvkar to work as a laboratory assistant in the Department of History , Ethnography and Archeology of the Komi Branch of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (AN-SSSR, since 1991 Russian Academy of Sciences (RAN)). In 1961 she became a research assistant there. Her main research interests were the ethnogenesis of the Komi and their history in the Middle Ages and the old Russian colonization of the European northeast. She led the excavations in the area of ​​the Komi Republic and Arkhangelsk Oblast , in which she herself participated. Her special finds included a wooden bowl in the shape of a bear, a silver Sassanid rhyton in the shape of a cow's head and an iron chain mail , which are in the Hermitage . In 1969 she successfully defended her dissertation on the Perm Vytschegodskaya Region (Komi Republic and Arkhangelsk Oblast) at the Moscow Institute of Archeology of the AN-SSSR for archaeological finds for a doctorate as a candidate in historical sciences .

In 1972 Savelyeva moved to the chair of history at Syktyvkar State University. In 1975 she became a lecturer , dean of the Faculty of History (1977–1979) and in 1982 head of the Department of History of the USSR .

In 1985, as a result of the selection process, Savelyeva became the head of the Department of Archeology of the Institute of Language, Literature and History of the Komi Science Center of the Urals Department of the AN-SSSR in Syktyvkar (until 2008). In 1991 she became Scientific Vice Director of the institute (until 2001). In 1995 she successfully defended her doctoral thesis on the European Northeast in the Middle Ages at the Moscow Institute for Archeology of the RAN for a doctorate in history. She was a member of the Coordinating Council of the International Committee of Finno Ugrists .
