Eliahu López

Eliahu López (born March 10, 1946 in Jerusalem ) is an Israeli diplomat and has been an ambassador to Guatemala since 2009 .

López studied Jewish history and Latin American studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem . In 1975 he started working for the Israeli Foreign Ministry . Among other things, he was first third and later second secretary at the Israeli embassy in Guatemala from 1976 to 1980, from 1984 to 1985 López was first secretary and consul at the embassy in Venezuela and then from 1985 to 1989 first secretary and then counselor at the Embassy in Germany . From 1989 to 1990 López was chargé d' affaires at the Israeli embassy in Ethiopia . He held this position twice, in 1990 at the embassy in Czechoslovakia and in 1999 at the Paraguay embassy .

From 2000 to 2003 López was ambassador to the Dominican Republic and non-resident for Barbados , Dominica , Grenada , Haiti , Jamaica , St. Kitts and Nevis , St. Lucia and St. Vincent and the Grenadines .

In 2009 he replaced Isaac Bachmann as Israeli ambassador to Guatemala. López is thus also accredited as a non-resident ambassador for Honduras .

López is married and has three children.
