Susanna Maria Rebecca Elisabeth von Adlerflycht , née von Riese (born September 23, 1775 in Frankfurt am Main ; † March 15, 1846 there ), was a German amateur painter and the inventor of the Rhine panorama .

Life

She was a student of the Frankfurt still life and portrait painter Johann Daniel Bager (1734–1815) and in 1797 married the future Senator Justinian von Adlerflycht in Frankfurt am Main.

During a trip to the Rhine in 1811, she drew the panorama of the Rhine Valley from the mouth of the Nahe to the Moselle . The publisher Johann Friedrich Cotta (1764-1832) recognized the newness of this picture card design and prompted in 1822 in Stuttgart the lithographic printing this sheet by the Stuttgart theater painter Karl Keller (1775 to 1853). Since 1823, Friedrich Wilhelm Delkeskamp has been completing the specifications for the classic Rhine panorama from Mainz to Cologne for the Frankfurt publisher Friedrich Wilmans .

Elisabeth von Adlerflycht owned a small collection of paintings in Frankfurt.

The Adlerflychtplatz and Adlerflychtstrasse in the north end of Frankfurt are reminiscent of the Adlerflycht patrician family ; From 1876 to 1932 there was still the Adlerflychtschule, a higher secondary school with a preschool.
