Elizabeth Holst May (* 27. July 1983 as Elizabeth Nicola May ) is a former Luxembourg triathlete . She is a two-time Olympian (2004, 2008) and Aquathlon World Champion (2011).

Career

Liz May came to triathlon in 2000. In 2002 she became Junior World Champion Aquathlon and also Vice European Champion Duathlon in the U23 class.
In 2003 she became vice world champion aquathlon in the elite class and she was able to repeat this success again in 2004.

Summer Olympics 2004 and 2008

At the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens , she finished 17th.

In 2008 she was able to qualify for a starting place at the Summer Olympics for the second time and finished 41st in Beijing .

In July 2009 she was runner-up in the triathlon in Rijssen-Holten in the short Olympic distance (1.5 km swimming, 40 km cycling and 10 km running) behind the Swiss Nicola Spirig .

World Champion Aquathlon 2011

In September 2011 she became aquathlon world champion in Beijing. Liz May was trained by Jack Ralston. She declared her active career ended in 2013.

Private

She studied law at the University of Trier from 2002 to 2004 and at the University of Copenhagen from 2004 to 2013 . She completed her studies in Copenhagen in 2013 and has been working at the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg as a lawyer or linguist since 2014, where she translates court judgments from French into Danish .

She is also active as an artist and illustrator .
