Elliot Meadow
Elliot Meadow (born August 22, 1945 in Glasgow - † January 4, 2017 ) was a British jazz writer , music producer , manager and radio presenter .

Meadow met music producer Norman Granz at the age of nine ; At the age of 18, the jazz-loving young man moved to the United States. There he initially worked as a roadie for the Count Basie Orchestra ; In 1966 he met the singer Frank Sinatra (whom he booked for a concert in Glasgow 24 years later) while on tour with Basie . In the following years, Elliot worked as a tour manager for Herbie Hancocks Headhunters and Marlena Shaw , before starting a career as a music manager and producer; he worked for the jazz label Muse and Strata-East , u. a. with Sonny Stitt , Sonny Fortune , Grady Tate and Buster Williams . He also produced Billy Hart's solo album Enchance (1977). Elliot also wrote articles for jazz magazines such as Downbeat , living in New York , before returning to Scotland in the 1980s. There he had a jazz show on Radio Forth ; he also wrote articles for The Herald, The List and the Jazz Journal . He also worked for the Scottish record label Linn Records , for which he produced recordings for Martin Taylor , Stacey Kent , Claire Martin and Carol Kidd . In 1983 he founded his own label GFM Records , for which he produced recordings for Tommy Smith and Lee Konitz . In the 1990s he also contributed to the jazz program of BBC Radio Scotland ( Be-Bop to Hip-Hop ); there he presented monthly features on jazz musicians such as Ella Fitzgerald , Miles Davis and Andrew Hill . He also produced radio documentaries about Dean Martin's daughter Deana and Norman Granz. Most recently, he moderated his own radio program on the Internet, JazzMoodsPlus . He died in early 2017 of complications from prostate cancer .
