Elm is a district of the Saarland community Schwalbach in the Saarlouis district and has 5040 inhabitants.

Breakdown of localities and location

Elm is located about 1 km east and southeast of the municipality capital Schwalbach, and about 2 km northeast of Bous . To the east of the village are Püttlingen and Köllerbach , north of the Saarwellingen district of Schwarzenholz and south of the Völklingen district of Röchlinghöhe .
Elm is divided into the districts of Sprengen, Elm, Derlen and Knausholz , which extend from Sprengen in a south-westerly direction in the Sprenger Bachtal.

history

The four villages in the Sprenger Bachtal (Knausholz, Derlen, Elm and Sprengen) were combined into one municipality in 1938, which was given the name Elm / Saar. As part of a regional and administrative reform , the municipality of Elm / Saar in the Bous district came to the municipality of Schwalbach with effect from January 1, 1974.

Until 2007 there were two Catholic parishes and parishes in Elm : St. Josef in Derlen and Maria Himmelfahrt in Sprengen. Since July 20, 2007 they have been part of the parish and parish Heilig Kreuz Schwalbach.

Buildings

In Elm, there are several buildings that as individual monuments in the monument list are listed in the Saarland. These include the Sanders Mill from 1854, a community cattle shed from 1906, a farmhouse from 1900, and the Catholic parish church of St. Josef by the architect Peter Marx, built in the neo-Gothic style between 1900 and 1904 .

The local recreation area Mühlenthal is located in the center of Elmer on the course of the Sprenger Bach .

Sports

The Elm Stadium, a hard playing field with 400-meter lanes, and the Elm sports field with a grass field are located in Bachtalstrasse.

The state road L 140, coming from Bous, runs through Elm and has a junction with the federal motorway 8 about 1 km northeast of Elm . There is a connection from Sprengen on the one hand to Schwalbach and on the other to Köllerbach via the state road L 139. A road leads from Derlen to Püttlingen.
