Elmar Dietz

Elmar Georg Dietz (born December 30, 1902 in Jesserndorf ; † November 7, 1996 in Munich ) was a German sculptor .

Life

The artist, born in Jesserndorf, today a district of Ebern , studied under Hermann Hahn at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich . From 1931 he worked as a freelance artist in Munich. From 1937 on, Elmar Dietz was married for a few years to the Austrian writer Gertrud Fussenegger , who had four children from him - Ricarda , Traudi, Dorothea and Raimund - but lived separately from him from 1943 until the divorce in 1947.

During the Nazi era , he took part in the Great German Art Exhibition in the House of German Art in Munich with his work The Bull (which was later available for purchase as a limited edition cast ) .

Together with his older brother Lothar Dietz , a sculpture workshop had been operated in the still-preserved studio building in the backyard of Amalienstraße 81 in Munich since 1923. In 1936, the two artists trained at the academy parted ways. From then on Lother was registered at Schwedenstrasse 40.

Elmar Dietz is the younger brother of the sculptor Lothar Dietz , the artist Ricarda Dietz is his daughter. The former Bavarian Minister for Science and Art Wolfgang Heubisch is his nephew.
