The elole piano trio is a German piano trio that specializes in contemporary and experimental music.

Career

The elole piano trio was founded in October 2001 by Uta-Maria Lempert (* 1974; violin ), Matthias Lorenz (* 1964; cello ) and Stefan Eder (* 1962; piano ) in Dresden . The name of the trio is made up of the surnames E der, Lo renz, Le mpert. Lempert and Eder studied at the Dresden University of Music , all three also perform as soloists on their instruments and belong to other ensembles. Already in 2003 they were considered an integral part of the free classical music scene in Dresden, but "an unusual ensemble". In 2009 the three musicians were called "guarantors for exciting concert programs in the field of avant-garde chamber music".

In 2010 elole released its first CD structure & surface with interpretations of pieces by Stefan Streich, Jürg Frey and Nikolaus Brass .

In 2014 the elole eV was founded not only to give the trio a legal basis, but also to enable medium-term planning.

The elole piano trio is a member of the KlangNetz Dresden .

Musical work

Contemporary music is at the center of the work of the elole piano trio . The main goal of the trio is to "combine the latest musical creation with a look back at progressive music since 1900." In doing so, the creation of new compositions is encouraged and elole attaches great importance to working closely with the composer as early as the creation process of the pieces. In the first 10 years of its existence, the ensemble can refer to over 40 world premieres, including pieces by Jörg Herchet , Chris Newman , Carsten Hennig and Charlotte Seither . In 2006, on the occasion of Dresden's 800th anniversary, elole organized the Klang↔Stadt↔Stille composition competition and played nine world premieres from over 119 submissions on one day.

The ensemble has performed several times at the Dresden Days of Contemporary Music Festival, which has been the TonLagen Festival since 2009 and is organized by the European Center for the Arts in Hellerau . The trio was also represented at CYNETART 2003. In addition to the premieres, milestones of contemporary trio literature by Bernd Alois Zimmermann and Morton Feldman, among others, form pillars of the programs, which also deal with visual arts (e.g. Chris Newman ), scenic concepts (e.g. with Michael Grossmann ) or electronic music (Joel Ryan). "The trio is one of the chamber ensembles in Dresden that specialize in the experimental and contemporary and go their very own, remarkable path," wrote the newspaper Dresdner Latest Nachrichten in 2003 about elole.

The piano trio gives around 14 concerts worldwide every year. It has made guest appearances in the Ukraine (2002), Austria (several times since 2001), Switzerland (2003) and Poland (2005).
