The vehicles of type A 17 were passenger locomotives of the Reichseisenbahnen in Alsace-Lorraine . The machines ran under the designation P 7 from 1906.

The machines were based on the Prussian P 7 , but had larger drive wheels. Characteristic features of the locomotives were the two-meter-deep Belpaire fire box with vertical front and rear walls and the servo tubes. Outwardly they resembled French-style locomotives.
