action

The cheeky, spirited and very young at heart Elsa learns that she should have a new neighbor: Fred. His wife died a few months ago, and now his daughter Cuca, who quickly gets choleric, has taken care of an apartment for the 78-year-old widower. Fred, who is the complete opposite of Elsa and also has a hypochondriac disposition, has not even moved in when Elsa rams Cuca's car with her car. In order to avoid paying the repair costs - because Elsa is "unfortunately" a bit behind with the insurance premiums - she lies to Fred and tells him how difficult it was in life. So Fred gives her back the check that she has received from her son in the meantime. She is delighted because it gives her the opportunity to financially support her second son, who is a painter and desperately trying to be able to exhibit his pictures one day.

But Elsa has taken a liking to her new neighbor and is now trying to get to know him better. Again and again, however, she falls back on lies in conversation - for example about her age: She is 77 and thus younger than Fred. In truth, however, she is already 82. In addition, she does not tell him that she is seriously ill and will probably not have much longer to live. At the same time, she still has one great wish: one day, like Anita Ekberg in Fellini's film La dolce vita, to stand in the Roman Trevi fountain and hold her lover in her arms.

After the two have made half of Madrid unsafe like two teenagers - for example, they collapse in a fancy restaurant - Fred, who cannot always keep up with Elsa's daring, decides to take the initiative: he spontaneously buys two tickets for a vacation in Rome and fulfills Elsa her great wish.

Reviews

"You are so carried away by the intense play of the lead actor couple that even the very cheesy ending doesn't bother you."

"Lively seniors comedy designed in a rousing manner by the actors, which is sometimes sentimental, sometimes a little too harmless, but always draws on the contrast between the two main characters."
