Emden is a village in Logan County in Illinois ( USA ). The population is 515 (as of 2000).
The city is named after the East Frisian seaport town of Emden . Many emigrants who have settled here come from the Ems region.

Emden's geographic coordinates are 40 ° 18 ′ N , 89 ° 29 ′ W (40.297772, −89.485267). The place is south of the US Highway 136 and is cut diagonally by a railway line of the former Illinois Central Railroad .

history
Emden was founded in 1871 as a train station for the then Peoria, Lincoln and Decatur Railroad . The established post office went into service on August 7th of that year.
