Emelyne Laurent

Emelyne Laurent (born November 4, 1998 in Fort-de-France ) is a French football player .

Club career

Emelyne Laurent was born in Martinique . It was not until she was eleven that her mother gave her permission to join a football club - AS La Samaritaine from Sainte-Marie . In 2013 she moved to the French mainland , where she was accepted into the youth center of the Montpellier HSC , for which she went through the different year teams and was soon also used in the French national youth teams. In February 2016, the offensive player played her first twenty-minute competitive game in a league game in Montpellier's first division . Afterwards it was no longer considered in this circle; Montpellier even loaned them to league rivals Girondins Bordeaux for the second half of the 2016/17 season . There she completed nine point games, was always in the starting line-up with one exception and scored a total of five goals despite the unfamiliar playing position as a striker, which she played a key role in ensuring that the climber was able to receive the class.

As a result, the “super club” of French women's football , Olympique Lyon , brought the 18-year-old attacker to the Rhône for an initial three years in the summer of 2017 . In her first year at OL, she only played two league games, in which she managed one goal each. The personal competition on the right wing was also great, as Lyon had two other similarly fast and technically skilled players with Delphine Cascarino, who was only 21 months older, and Dutch European Champion Shanice van de Sanden . In contrast to these two, Emelyne Laurent was also absent from this season's Olympiques finals ( national and European cups ). The following season (2018/19) got off to a better start for them. In seven of the first nine point games as well as in the first four matches in the Champions League, coach Reynald Pedros Laurent made at least short appearances possible ; it was also included for the first time in France's senior national women (see below) . In January 2019, Lyon loaned them to league rivals EA Guingamp until the end of the season . Then back in Lyon, she was substituted on the first day of the 2019/20 season at Olympique before the club loaned her again a week later, this time to Girondins Bordeaux. In the summer of 2020, Laurent was also the object of a loan deal, this time with Atlético Madrid .

In the national team

In May 2014 Emelyne Laurent played for the French B-youth team for the first time. In this age group (U-16 and U-17) she has played a total of 14 games and scored two goals. As a result, she went through the youth and junior selection of the French association , where she established herself as a regular player at an early stage.

For the A-youth selection (U-19) under coach Gilles Eyquem , Laurent was on the field in 16 matches from spring 2016 and scored a total of four hits in this circle. When this team won the runner -up at the U-19 European Championship in 2017 , she was the most accurate French woman with her three goals, together with Mathilde Bourdieu . With second place in this tournament, the French also qualified for the U-20 World Cup in France in 2018 , with the Bleuettes finishing in a rather disappointing fourth place. Laurent was once again, this time together with Amélie Delabre , who also scored four goals, the most dangerous French attacker and was fifth in the World Cup scorer list.
With the U-20 selection, Emelyne Laurent has played 13 games so far since November 2017 with seven goals of her own.

She made her debut in the French national team in October 2018, when coach Corinne Diacre substituted her for two friendly matches against Australia and Cameroon . Diacre has also appointed Emelyne Laurent to the French 23-man squad for the 2019 World Cup in their own country . Meanwhile, three more short assignments have been added. (As of May 31, 2019)
