Emil Kauffmann

Karl Emil Kauffmann (born November 23, 1836 in Ludwigsburg ; † June 17, 1909 in Tübingen ) was the university music director in Tübingen and a composer.

Life

Karl Emil Kauffmann was a son of Ernst Friedrich Kauffmann (1803-1856), professor of mathematics at the Eberhard-Ludwig-Obergymnasium in Stuttgart , writer and composer, and Marie, geb. Lohbauer (April 26, 1805– January 29, 1861). In 1856 he became a member of the Hofkapelle Stuttgart , in 1868 a teacher at the music school in Basel and in 1877 university music director in Tübingen. In 1898 he was promoted to Dr. phil. doctorate and appointed professor in 1899.
