Hofkapelle Stuttgart
The Württembergische Hofkapelle Stuttgart was the musical band of the Württemberg ruling house .
history
The chapel was described as early as the 16th century and had changing occupations over the centuries.
In 1617 it consisted of 50 “excellent singers” and was affiliated with the princely chamber music ensemble, in 1699 it consisted of 11 band boys; In the period from 1736 to 1750, choir singers and band boys were brought in from the chapel to perform operas. During this time, the court orchestra evidently changed into an opera choir, from which the Stuttgart State Opera Choir would later emerge, while an orchestra developed under the name Hofkapelle.
In 1818 subscription concerts were introduced under Johann Nepomuk Hummel. This promoted the development of the orchestra from a court orchestra to a modern symphony orchestra. Today's Württemberg State Orchestra Stuttgart follows the tradition of the Württemberg court orchestra.
Since 2002 the conductor Frieder Bernius has named his Baroque Orchestra Stuttgart , founded in 1991, as the Hofkapelle Stuttgart.

- ↑ The dates given for the respective work as court conductor in Stuttgart are not documented in all cases and can therefore only be used as a guideline
- ↑ In Nägele (ed.) On page 30, Hardt is portrayed as senior conductor from 1739 to 1745, and as conductor from 1746 to 1755 (deviating from the previous representation in the Wikipedia article, which only assumes the rank of senior concertmaster from 1738 to 1745)
- ↑ In Court and State Manual of the Kingdom of Württemberg it is only once, in the band from 1908, but instead with the first name Erich as Richard Band , court music, along with Matthew Pitteroff mentioned
