Emil Mannkopff

Emil Wilhelm Mannkopff (born June 5, 1836 in Pasewalk , † January 15, 1918 in Marburg ) was a German university professor for internal medicine.

Life

After graduating from high school in Berlin in autumn 1854, Mannkopff studied medicine at the Friedrich Wilhelms University in Berlin , the Julius Maximilians University in Würzburg , the Charles University in Prague and the University of Vienna . Among his teachers were Johannes Peter Müller , Rudolf Virchow , Johann Lukas beautiful flax and Ludwig Traube On 16 August 1858 his doctorate he became Dr. med. In the same year he became a connoisseur of the Corps Nassovia Würzburg . In 1863 he received the Nassauer's ribbon. In March 1859 a doctor approved , he was for a short time practitioner in Berlin . In 1860 he became first assistant doctor to Friedrich Theodor von Frerichs at the Charité , with whom he completed his habilitation in 1862 . After taking part in the German War as a private lecturer , he followed the call of the Philipps University of Marburg to its chair for internal medicine on March 9, 1867 . A little later, on June 11, 1867, he married Marie Fischer from Berlin. He enthusiastically welcomed the outbreak of the Franco-German War , in which he participated like all Hessen-Nassau residents. In 1878/79 and 1885/86 he was the rector of the university. A new clinic with laboratories was built under Mannkopff's directorate and opened in 1886. In 1891 he became chairman of the medical and dental examination commission. After 38 years of service, he retired in 1905 . He died at the age of 82.
