Emil Obermann

Emil Obermann (born December 27, 1921 in Stuttgart ; † February 23, 1994 ibid) was a German journalist , publicist and television presenter .

Career

After graduating from high school, Obermann studied economics , sociology , constitutional law , international law as well as medieval and modern history at the universities of Stuttgart and Heidelberg and was awarded a doctorate in 1950 with a study from Prussian to German militarism. phil. PhD in social and political sciences .

This was followed by an internship at the Deutsche Zeitung and Wirtschaftszeitung , before Obermann switched to SDR as an editor in 1952 . From 1952 to 1954 he was part of the local radio editor-in-chief and from 1954 to 1964 to the Bonn office . In 1964 he was appointed editor-in-chief of television for the SDR. In this position, which he held until his retirement in 1985, he headed the political magazine Report , for which u. a. Günter Gaus , Franz Alt and Peter von Zahn took over the moderation. Obermann became known to a broad audience through the pro and contra televised discussion he also directed and moderated . The discussion rounds of the magazine, which was first broadcast in 1968, were still broadcast live until 1979, later only in recordings.

In addition, Obermann published numerous books on political and historical topics.

Awards
