Emil Rudolf Mewes

Emil Rudolf Mewes (born April 14, 1885 in Cologne , † January 25, 1949 in Zurich ) was a German architect who made a name for himself primarily through numerous industrial buildings. He had been working in Cologne since before the First World War and moved to Switzerland in 1943.

Mewes was a member of the German Werkbund (DWB) and the Association of German Architects (BDA). He was a member of the Corps Franconia Karlsruhe , which he had joined during his studies.

    In the working group with Karl Kohlbecker and the architects Fritz Schupp and Martin Kremmer , Mewes was responsible for the entire processing of the plans and the artistic direction.
  • 1939: Hall F of FAG Kugelfischer in Schweinfurt
  • 1939–1940: Hanomag administration building and main gate in Hannover-Linden, Göttinger Straße 14 (under monument protection)
