Emil Tiedemann
Emil Tiedemann (* before 1858; † probably 1892) was a German photographer. He ran a studio in Bremen from 1859 to 1892 and had branches in Brake, Braunschweig, Dessau and Hanover.
Life
Tiedemann can be traced back to Bremen for the first time in 1857 as a “daguerreotypist”. In 1858 he married Anna Christine Herzog from the Bremen photographer family of the same name and in 1859 took over the studio of Johannes Carl Herzog at Richtweg 12 . It existed there until 1892. Several branches remained under his name beyond this point in time: Ateliers are known in Brake an der Weser , Braunschweig and Hanover . These studios found their customers mainly in the upper class, and Tiedemann and his successors were repeatedly awarded the title of " purveyor to the court " by various ruling houses .
After his death, his widow Anna Tiedemann continued the Bremen studio for only a few months; in 1893 it was taken over by the company "Müller & Pilgram, E. Tiedemann Nachf." Anna Tiedemann took over the Hanover branch in 1897 at the latest, which was later located at Georgstrasse 14 and was soon taken over by the photographer Edmund Lill .
Awards and titles
In 1868 Emil Tiedemann received a "Silver Medal" for portraits at the "second exhibition of photographic work" in Hamburg . In the same year he was awarded a silver medal in Bremen. In 1876 he received both the "Golden Cross" from the city of Utrecht and an award from Lutherstadt Eisenach in Thuringia and Sydney .

- Around 1898 Tiedemann ran a studio right in front of the main train station in Hanover at Ernst-August-Platz 5 / corner of Schillerstraße ; the company premises were housed in two adjacent buildings.
- Also around 1898 an “elegant photographic studio” was known in the same city in the corner building Georgstraße / corner Karmarschstraße , directly on the Kröpcke . The then new building belonged to Wilhelm Brackebusch ; the building destroyed during the air raids on Hanover found its successor in the form of the Europa-Haus .
- Tiedemann had apparently sold a former studio in Braunschweig , Am Bohlweg 66 , to a successor: The business was run in 1899 under the name of Emil Tiedemann by another owner , H. Zieger.
