Emil von Schelhorn

Emil von Schelhorn (born April 10, 1828 in Landsberg am Lech , † December 10, 1908 in Munich ) was a Bavarian officer.

Life

After graduating from high school in 1846, Emil von Schelhorn studied at the (today's) Wilhelmsgymnasium in Munich at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . In 1847 he became a member of the Isaria Corps . After completing his studies, he embarked on the Bavarian officer career and joined the Royal Bavarian 9th Infantry Regiment "Wrede" in 1848 as a sub-lieutenant . In 1852 he became a battalion adjutant. From 1855 he served as adjutant to Brigadier Major General Benjamin von Herman and was promoted to first lieutenant in 1859 .

At the beginning of the German War in 1866 he was ordered to serve as a captain in the general staff of the Bavarian Army . In 1868 he became adjutant to the Quartermaster General .

During the mobilization at the beginning of the Franco-German War he was injured: Captain Emil v. Schellhorn encountered the accident yesterday evening, when he was preparing to leave for the field and was about to remove the primer cap from a revolver, that a barrel discharged and the shot went through his left hand so that he could not be used came. In 1872 he was promoted to major in the General Staff and in 1873 he was transferred to the Bavarian Cadet Corps as its service and study inspector. In 1876 he became director of the war school and in this position in 1877 lieutenant colonel and in 1881 colonel. From 1884 to 1888 he was commander of the cadet corps.

His last rank was from 1885 major general ; As such, he was put up for disposition on April 16, 1888 by Prince Regent Luitpold of Bavaria because of his resignation . As major general a. D. he lived in Munich until his death.
