Emmaus Church (Schwarzenberg)
The Emmauskirche is an Evangelical Lutheran church in the Schwarzenberg district of Neuwelt in the Erzgebirge district . It was built between 1900 and 1901 and is a listed building .
history
Due to the population growth in Neuwelt, whose residents were parish in Beierfeld and had to take a relatively long, mountainous route to the church for the weekly services, the application was made to be allowed to hold the services in a separate room in the school building. In 1895 this application was approved by the consistory . After an assistant chaplain had initially taken over the parish work in Neuwelt, his position was converted into a separate parish office in 1897.
On August 24, 1900, the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of our own church in Neuwelt, not far from what would later become the 101 federal highway, took place.
In the Romanesque Revival style designed by the Dresden architect Woldemar Kandler built Emmaus church was founded on 28 October 1901 after only 14 months of construction consecrated . The construction costs amounted to approx. 110,000 marks . On November 7, 1926, the 25th anniversary celebration took place in the Emmaus Church.
