Emmi Knoche

Emmi Knoche (born May 1, 1881 in Mainz , † March 3, 1970 in Braunschweig ) was a German pianist and piano teacher.

Life

Emmi Knoche was born in Mainz in 1881 as the daughter of a lieutenant colonel. From 1895 she lived in Braunschweig, her mother's hometown, and attended the Sophia School there and the Plock Conservatory . She took piano lessons from Conrad Ansorge in Berlin until 1909 . She appeared as a soloist in numerous concerts in Braunschweig and other major German cities and was soon one of the best north German pianists, where she stood out as a Beethoven interpreter. Knoche performed 166 concerts with the cellist August Bieler and performed together with the opera singer Christian Wahle . She also took part in orchestral concerts. They occurred during the First World War in front theaters on.

After 1918 she worked as a piano teacher in Braunschweig and trained around 350 students. She taught at the Braunschweig State Music School, founded in 1939, for six years.

Emmi Knoche lived in Braunschweig at Gerstäckerstraße 3. She died on March 3, 1970.
