Reviews

"After your sensational success" You are a beautiful man! " French director Isabelle Mergault was also able to score points with domestic audiences with her second comedy. Less subtle than silly, she describes the confusion of lies and deceit, desire and regret. Nevertheless, the tone is right, the bizarre staff and the ensemble's performance are convincing and the comedy gets to the point. "

"The French comedy by director Isabelle Mergault not only strains the patience of the audience, but also the odd joke or two, which at most can induce a smile."

“Under all the humor - which is sometimes reminiscent of Woody Allen - there [...] always shimmers a certain seriousness, which illuminates controversial social problems in an ironic, sometimes sarcastic way. But that only becomes clear to you after you have gone to the cinema, because during the ninety minutes in the cinema you give yourself to this comedy without having deep thoughts. [...] Therein lies the only weak point of Endlich Widow , because the humor sometimes gets a bit out of hand, and there is hardly any dialogue in this film that is not aimed at becoming a laughing stock. [...] Nevertheless, Widow is convincing in its entirety and lives from the French charm of life, which is wonderfully presented especially by the lover Léo [...] It is also the bizarre supporting roles that give the comedy a humorous depth. [...] It is obvious that there is actually nothing to laugh about with these diseases. You do it anyway, and even without a guilty conscience! "

"Rather crude comedy with caricaturing milieu drawings and burlesque situations, whose tendency to exaggeration threatens to escalate."

"The Francophile cinema connoisseur is offered a sufficiently entertaining, but never really convincing, since ultimately much too harmless and sometimes even a little embarrassing-looking tabloid comedy, the humor of which is unfortunately no longer the freshest."

“Compared to other French comedies, Finally Widow joins the shallow, geeky films rather than the really noble comedy classics such as The Tall Blonde with the Black Shoe [...] or Breast or Club . One can rather think of the film as an elaborate, successful TV production. However , it doesn't come up against really all-round successful comedies like Willkommen bei den Sch'tis . Nevertheless, Widow at last promises an entertaining evening at the cinema with friends. You should just choose the right friends to go to the cinema: Groups who like to laugh a little, maybe even after an aperitif, should be able to really enjoy the film. "
