Engelbert Schmidhuber

Engelbert Schmidhuber (born October 13, 1916 ; † 20th / 21st century) was a German football player.

Career

Schmidhuber belonged to TSV 1860 Munich as a striker , for whom he was initially in the Gauliga Bayern from 1934 to 1942 , in one of initially 16, later increased to 23 Gauligen at the time of National Socialism as the uniform top division in the German Reich - due to the war - from 1942 until 1944 in the Gauliga Südbayern and most recently, 1944/45 in the Gauliga Munich / Upper Bavaria , played point games.

He finished the 1940/41 season with his team as Gaumeister Bayern and consequently took part in the final round of the German championship . The championship was held in four groups of three or four teams with a return leg, the winners of which qualified for the semi-finals. He only played one game in Group 4 , the penultimate group game won on May 11, 1941 2-1 against the Stuttgarter Kickers . Group winner and later German champion was SK Rapid Wien .

He finished the 1942/43 season with his team as Gaumeister Südbayern, but was not used in the final round of the German championship.

During his club membership he played one game in 1936 , two in 1938 and six in 1942 in the competition for the national club cup. He made his debut on June 14, 1936 in the 1-0 first-round victory at the Stuttgarter Kickers , but his team was eliminated from the competition on August 16 in the replay at 1. FC Pforzheim after the encounter in the second round 3: 3 after extra time had not found a winner. With his ninth and last cup game, he crowned his achievements by winning the cup; the final held on November 15, 1942 in the Berlin Olympic Stadium in front of 80,000 spectators against FC Schalke 04 was won 2-0, whereby he made the preliminary decision with the goal to 2-0 in the 88th minute, his seventh goal in total .

After the end of the Second World War and with the start of the Oberliga Süd , one of three seasons of the now top German division, he played seven more seasons for TSV 1860 Munich from 1945 to 1952 . As runner-up in the 1947/48 season , he was once again qualified with the team for the final round of the German championship. He played his only game on July 18, 1948 in the 1: 5 defeat in the quarter-finals at 1. FC Kaiserslautern .
