Career

Club career

Enrique Chazarreta, born in Resistencia , the capital of the Chaco province in northeast Argentina , in 1947 , joined the youth departments of CA San Lorenzo de Almagro in the 1960s . There he managed after he was under contract for the Argentinos Juniors for a year in 1969 , in 1970 he was accepted into the first team. In the team around players such as Rodolfo Fischer , Roberto Telch or Rubén Glaria , Chazarreta developed into a regular player and made 184 league appearances and thirty goals between 1970 and 1975. During this time one could cheer twice for winning the Argentine football championship. In Torneo Nacional 1972 they defeated CA River Plate 1-0 in the final after having a bye in the semifinals. In the same year, San Lorenzo had already shown himself to be very successful in the Torneo Metropolitano, the first half-year championship, and ended it in first place in the table with a six point lead over the Racing Club . It was thus possible to collect two championship titles for the club in one year. A third time the championship of Argentina was Enrique Chazarreta with CA San Lorenzo de Almagro in the Torneo Nacional 1974, when they were first in the final round with one point ahead of Rosario Central . This title win, however, also represented the end of a successful era for CA San Lorenzo de Almagro. The club, plagued by financial problems as a result, was only able to win the championship of Argentina again 21 years later.

Enrique Chazarreta played for San Lorenzo de Almagro until 1975 before he ventured to Europe . The midfielder joined Olympique Avignon , where he was under contract for two years, during which time he played 65 league games with nine goals. With the southern French club, Chazarreta played its only season in the top division to date, but in 1975/76 they were only knocked off last and had to relegate to Division 2 .

In 1977 Enrique Chazarreta left Avignon and moved to Olympique Alès within France , where he played in Division 2 for two years and then returned to his home country. From 1980 to 1981 at Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata and 1982 at Deportivo Morón , he let his football career come to an end, which ended in 1982 at the age of 35.

National team

In 1973 and 1974 Enrique Chazarreta made a total of eleven appearances in the Argentine national football team . A goal he did not succeed here. He was appointed to the South American squad for the 1974 World Cup in Germany by national coach Vladislao Cap . In the course of the tournament, however, Chazarreta only came on for a single use when he came on in the 78th minute for attacker Héctor Yazalde in the second round match against Italy (final score: 1: 1) . The Argentine team, however, reached the second final round, where they were eliminated as third in the group behind the Netherlands and Brazil and before the GDR .
