Enrique Collar Monterrubio (born November 2, 1934 in San Juan de Aznalfarache , Seville province ) is a former Spanish football player .

Enrique Collar was considered one of the best left wingers in the world in the 1950s and 1960s . He began his career at Atlético in Madrid , where his parents had moved just a few years after he was born. He went through all the youth departments of Rojiblanco before he was first tested in the first team in 1952. Here, since he could not, however, recommended for League inserts itself, the club gave him a year in Cadiz for resident third division side FC Cádiz . But even a year later, he did not make a breakthrough with the capital city. Although he made his debut in the 1953/54 season in the Primera División , but he only came to a meager four inserts. Therefore, he was awarded again at the beginning of the 1954/55 season, this time to the second division Real Murcia .

When Atlético's regular left winger injured himself after just a few months, Collar was brought back to take over the position. This time he managed to establish himself in the starting XI. The ball-safe and accurate collar soon became a top performer for the Madrilenians. At the end of the 1954/55 season he made his debut in the Spanish national team and scored his first of four international goals on his first appearance. After Atletico was left behind in the 1956 Spanish Cup final against Athletic Bilbao , Collar won his first title in 1960 with the Copa del Rey . A year later he succeeded in defending the cup title with Atlético and, as the crowning glory in the following season, he won the European Cup Winners' Cup with a 3-1 win over Fiorentina in the replay.

In 1963 he was again in the final of the European Cup Winners' Cup with Atlético, but Tottenham Hotspur had to be beaten 5-1. In the 1962/63 season he reached second place in the championship for the third time, after 1958 and 1961. However, like the two times before , they had to admit defeat to city rivals Real Madrid . With Francisco Gento it was also a Real player who was mostly preferred to collar in the national team. This was also the case at the 1962 World Cup in Chile, when Collar only played in the last group game against Brazil and the Spaniards could not prevent the qualifying round. This also explains why Collar only made 16 appearances in the national jersey. All the more astonishing that he wore the captain's armband seven times, a clear indication of his skills as a leading player and his playful class. In the 1964/65 season the cup title could be won, but in the league they were again behind Real Madrid. In 1966, however, Collar and Atlético succeeded in deciding the championship against the overpowering Real, who had previously won five consecutive championships, in favor of the Rojiblancos .

It would be the last title of his career. In 1969 he left the Madrilenians after 338 league games and 71 goals scored. At the end of his career, he moved to Valencia CF for one season , for which he played 15 league games at the age of 36 and scored one goal. After 16 seasons in the Spanish first division , he ended his active career in 1970.

Enrique Collar Monterrubio is currently President of the Fundación Atlético de Madrid .
