The Entenbach is an almost three kilometer long stream in the Schrezheim district marking of Ellwangen in the Ostalbkreis in eastern Baden-Württemberg , which flows into the lowest Rotenbach in the village of Rotenbach from the right and west .

geography

course

The duck stream rises at about 510  m above sea level. NHN on the northeast slope of the Schwarzjurakuppe from Hinter- and Vorderlengenberg only about 100 meters east of the next house in the hamlet of Hinterlengenberg (at about 535  m above sea level ) on the edge of the forest below. From its source it first flows northeast down the mountain and soon eastwards, it runs through a small pond on the southern edge of the Schleich corridor clearing . After a longer section back in the forest, it enters the long meadow meadow, Gabelweiher , which extends along the wooded Ölbuck on the left and the wooded Gablenbuck on the right.

Right at the beginning it flows from the southwest of springing also attended the summit Secretary Bach , the earlier the rather large Secretary pond has traversed. Further down, it is fed from the same side by the Gabelbach , which has its source in a similar position as thekretärbach and runs directly above a pierced dam. In the long meadows that follow, the duck stream runs through a small forest, while the left slope is already clear of forests.

After a stretch in the open corridor, it reaches the edge of the village of Rotenbach , where the Henkelbach flows from the west- south- west . A little later it flows in the place only about 200 meters above its own mouth from the right and west to about 433  m above sea level. NHN in the Jagst tributary Rotenbach .

The Entenbach flows about 77 meters below its source, on its 2.8 km long path it has a mean bed gradient of about 28 ‰.

Catchment area

The duck creek drains 2.8 square kilometers in the southern part of the natural area of the Swabian-Franconian Forest mountains computing Ellwanger Berge .

Most of it is Keupergestein , from Mittelkeuper upwards. The Entenbach itself and its first two tributaries arise at the step to the overlying Black Jura , which covers the ridge between Hinter- and Vorderlengenberg and lies here as a layer island in front of the extensive Black Jura plateaus further south. A little in front of the mouth above the Keuper on the left and right slopes there are also Goldshöfer Sande , much more recent Quaternary river deposits from the time when the Jagst before its river tapping in the course of the Rhenish erosion in the direction of the current, which is still the opposite of the course of the Rotenbach drained to Urbrenz and Danube .

The small catchment area on the ridge around Hinterlengenberg in the far west is plowed, to the east of which a forest area takes up most of its part, although a meadow around the stream is soon open. The subsequent, also small part of the corridor in front of the village of Rotenbach consists of a mixture of fields and meadows. Rotenbach is the only place on the river, like the entire catchment area, it is located in the Schrezheim subdivision of the town of Ellwangen .

Beyond that with up to a little over 540  m above sea level. NHN most prominent watershed in the west flows the Frankenbach called the upper reaches of the Sizenbach , which drains into the Jagst . On the north side is the catchment area of the Rotenbach above the Entenbach inlet; he only competes indirectly here via the Kaltenbach and an insignificant right floodplain. Behind the third, south-eastern side of the watershed to the right of the Entenbach-Lauf, the Schrezheimer Bach predominantly leads the drain to the Jagst.
