List of TV channels

Entertainment Channel was a German-speaking television broadcaster based in Berlin . The special-interest channel , which can be received exclusively digitally , broadcast entertainment formats with a focus on the areas of fashion , film , music and lifestyle . The station's motto was: “Get in touch with the stars” (German translation : “Get in touch with the stars ).

The TV presenter Milka Loff Fernandes , who formerly worked for VIVA , and today's n-tv weather editor Eva Schulz (now Imhof) worked for the entertainment channel.

history

On July 22, 2004, the Star! Entertainment Factory GmbH obtained a broadcast license for their Star! Program from Medienanstalt Berlin-Brandenburg . TV . The model was the Canadian broadcaster Star! from the media company CHUM Limited . Due to an injunction by the Swiss broadcaster Star TV , the project title had to be abandoned.

Originally, the entertainment channel was also supposed to be distributed analogously via the SES Astra satellite fleet , which was announced in autumn 2005 on the labels of a mineral water product. However, this project was abandoned; one relied exclusively on digital distribution channels.

Due to the legal dispute with Star TV, broadcasting began on November 3, 2005, a few months later.

In August 2006, the self-produced entertainment magazine went on air with Milka Loff Fernandes.

The trend sports and music video show Much Adrenaline was broadcast on GIGA from March 23, 2007 to June 1, 2007 . GIGA supplemented the contributions with introductions from Arno Tüting. During the broadcast, the logo of the entertainment channel was displayed in addition to the own station identification.

With the exception of a few long-term advertisements , there were no commercials in the entertainment channel in the last few weeks of its existence .

In addition to the mineral water advertising campaign, the owner became the star! Entertainment Factory GmbH , the Entertainment Factory Inc. (EFI ) advertised to a greater extent in various financial media (for example Focus Money ). The EFI was presented as relevant due to the target group and the associated potential of the entertainment channel.

In fact, the entertainment channel had to be the star as a result of the bankruptcy ! Entertainment Factory stop broadcasting: First, the signal was cut on October 12, 2007. On October 15, broadcasting was resumed with a reduced image quality before the final cessation took place on October 18. At the same time, the managing director Hans Jörg Finsterwald announced a realignment and a new shareholder structure. Finsterwald was investigated for possible insolvency violations.

program

The operators of the entertainment channel had access to an extensive program library from CHUM Limited . This was involved in the (apparently very low) advertising revenue. In return, access to the library was very cheap. The contemporary and journalistically prepared content was translated for the German-speaking market and supplemented by self-produced articles, which were embedded in the original Canadian formats.

The only purely local and regularly produced program was the entertainment magazine with Milka Loff Fernandes from Berlin, a format about current developments in the so-called “lifestyle” area, which includes music, film and architecture , for example .

Eva Schulz acted as an external reporter at premieres and events such as the Berlinale and had her own section.
