The Eparchy Košice ( Latin Eparchia Kosicensis ) is a Greek Catholic eparchy unified with the Roman Catholic Church , which is subordinate to the Archeparch Prešov as a suffragandiocese .

history

The Exarchate of Košice was established on January 27, 1997 by Pope John Paul II with the Apostolic Constitution Ecclesiales communitates . It is located on the territory of southeastern Slovakia and is congruent with the political district Košický kraj . Previously it was part of the Greek Catholic eparchy Prešov.

On January 30, 2008, the previous Apostolic Exarchate Košice by Pope Benedict XVI. raised to eparchy.

The current bishop of the eparchy is Milan Chautur .
