Ercole Dandini (born July 25, 1759 in Rome , † July 22, 1840 there ) was an Italian cardinal of the Roman Church .

Life

After Dandini had studied at the Collegio Nazareno in Rome from 1772 to 1779 , he received his doctorate on May 2, 1785 at the University of La Sapientia in Rome as Doctor iuris utriusque (Doctor of both rights). Shortly afterwards he was ordained a subdeacon . Already since December 24, 1780 beneficiary at the Vatican basilica, he began his activity at the Curia as papal house prelate on April 11, 1785 and worked at the signature. Appointed Assessor at the Tribunal of the Governorate of Rome on October 30, 1800, he was a member of the Apostolic Signature from May 1, 1802 . Since March 19, 1816, he has been secretary and economist of the cathedral construction works of St. Peter , on July 22, 1816 he also became a praeceptor of the Arch Hospital S. Spirito in Sassia.

Pope Pius VII created Dandini cardinal on March 10, 1823 and appointed him cardinal priest of Santa Balbina on May 16, 1823 . On March 10, 1823, appointed bishop of Osimo e Cingoli , he resigned his diocese on May 23, 1824. Appointed Prefect of Good Government on March 3, 1828, he remained so until his death.

Dandini never received a higher ordination than that of subdeacon. He took part in the conclaves of 1823 , 1829 and 1830-1831 .
