Course of the Yamal pipeline

The Yamal pipeline is a 4196 km long pipeline through which natural gas is transported from the Yamal peninsula in Siberia through Russia , Belarus and Poland to Germany.

history

The Yamal line was completed in 1999. However, it was not until 2006 that the full capacity of 33 billion cubic meters per year was used. Since the development of natural gas fields has been postponed to Jamal ten years, the line has been with gas from fields in Western Siberia ( Urengoy , Yamburg , Medweshje supplied).

Poland

EuRoPol Gaz is the operator of the Polish section of the Yamal line. The Polish gas company PGNiG and the Russian gas company Gazprom each hold 48% of the shares in EuRoPol Gaz, the rest is in the hands of Gas-Trading.

The Polish side has been trying to enforce a higher transmission tariff for years in order to reduce the debt of EuRoPol Gaz more quickly. However, the Russians are interested in a low fee, since Russian natural gas is transmitted through Belarus and Poland to Germany through the Yamal pipeline . The lower the transfer fee, the higher the return for GazProm. At the end of 2007, EuRoPol Gaz was in debt to Gazprombank with PLN 2 billion (€ 618.3 million) . The money was drawn for the construction of the Yamal pipeline.

Germany

The pipeline crosses the Oder in the Oderbruch near Reitwein and continues to Mallnow to the Gascade transfer compressor station in Germany. Here the Yamal gas connection pipeline (JAGAL) takes over the Russian natural gas and feeds it into the German long-distance gas network. The first gas was delivered in October 2001.
