Eric Taylor (born June 19, 1969 in Grand Rapids , Michigan ) is a former American basketball player who played for several years in the German basketball league, especially for Telekom Baskets Bonn and later also in Austria .

Taylor studied at Oakland University and was active with the college team of the Golden Grizzlies in the NCAA Division I. In his team, he is one of the top 5 all-time leaders in terms of points scored, ball wins and three-point throw rates. In 2004 he was inducted into the Golden Grizzlies Hall of Fame for his achievements as an athlete.

After completing his studies, he went to Germany and initially played in Ludwigsburg . After one season he moved to the 2nd basketball league and played in Bonn . With the Telekom Baskets he was able to move up to the top division in 1996 and in the first year he reached the final of the German championship, which was lost to Alba Berlin . In the following season Taylor struggled with a knee injury and was then unable to agree on a contract extension with the club management. After the end of the contract, he played the following season in the USBL , CBA and also in Oberwart in Austria, which were cup winners that season. After a year in Finland, where he was also runner- up with his team from Helsinki , he played for the London Towers in the newly established ULEB Euroleague , before moving to Sweden in 2001. Interrupted by a station in Poland, he was again active in the 2nd Bundesliga in the 2003/04 season, this time for the Eisbären from Bremerhaven . He then moved back to Sweden, where he had to end his career in Sweden in 2005 after an eye injury that he sustained as a bystander in a bar fight when he was hit by a flying object.

After retiring, Taylor returned to his hometown and became a coffee house operator.
