Erich Brodmann

Karl Erich Brodmann (born March 20, 1855 in Posen , † July 12, 1940 in Leipzig ) was a German judge at the Imperial Court.

Life

Brodmann was the son of a judge and attended the Martineum (Halberstadt) . After graduating from high school, he studied law at the Kaiser Wilhelms University of Strasbourg , the Friedrich Wilhelms University of Berlin and the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen . He was active in the Corps Rhenania Strasbourg (1874) and in the Corps Suevia Tübingen (1876). He served as a one-year volunteer and later became a first lieutenant. From September 1877 he worked as a trainee lawyer. In 1883 Brodmann became a court assessor. On December 1, 1890, he was appointed district judge in Lübeck. In 1903 he became a higher regional judge at the Hanseatic higher regional court in Hamburg. From there he was appointed to the Reichsgericht as assistant judge on September 16, 1910. On November 1, 1911, he joined the First Civil Senate as Reich Judicial Counselor , and in 1915 he joined the Second Civil Senate . In October 1915 he was in the VI. Civil Senate transferred. From October 1918 he was again active in the 2nd Civil Senate. Brodmann had to retire due to the staff reduction regulation in 1923 (at the age of 68). He had been Dr. iur. hc from the Law Faculty of the University of Leipzig. He was co-commentator for property law in Gottlieb Planck's commentary on the civil code. Brodmann died in the Leipzig district of Raschwitz , where he last lived at Adolf-Hitler-Strasse 10.
