Erich Hamann (born November 27, 1944 in Pasewalk ) is a former German soccer player. In the top division of GDR football , the Oberliga , he played for SC Neubrandenburg and FC Vorwärts Frankfurt / Oder .

Athletic career

National league operation

In 1958, Hamann began to play organized football at BSG Lokomotive Pasewalk under trainer Gerhard Weiß and came to SC Neubrandenburg in 1961 , for which he played in the GDR league for the first time in 1964/65 . In February 1966 he moved to BSG Stahl Eisenhüttenstadt . In the same year, the trained toolmaker joined the National People's Army and played for ASG Vorwärts Storkow from November to April 1967. Subsequently, he was delegated to FC Vorwärts Berlin , the central soccer club of the army sports association Vorwärts , to which he remained loyal to the league until the end of 1975 after moving to Frankfurt / Oder . In 1969 Hamann won the GDR championship title with FC Vorwärts and in 1970 the FDGB Cup victory .

At the turn of the year 1975/76, the summer before as captain of the NVA, he ended his career at FC Vorwärts Frankfurt / Oder after almost 175 league games for the Red-Yellows. Hamann then played for the BSG Traktor Groß Lindow, with which he became district champion of Frankfurt (Oder) in 1976/77 and rose to the GDR league. The former national player did not take advantage of the opportunity to play again in the East German second division and ended his playing career in the summer of 1977.

Selection bets

In his international playing career with a total of three appearances for the GDR national team , Hamann wrote a piece of German-German sports history: From him came the decisive pass to Jürgen Sparwasser , who, thus, unlocked the famous 1-0 for the GDR against the West German team scored at the 1974 World Cup . Sparwasser later once said: "50 percent of the goal belongs to Erich Hamann." After the World Cup, the Frankfurter was no longer used in the A selection.

Before that, he had already worn the GDR junior team three times in 1962 . Between 1964 and 1970 Hamann played seven games with the U-23 representation of the DFV .

Coaching career

From 1982 to 1986 Hamann, who had completed his studies in sports science with a diploma by 1976, worked as a coach of the reserve team of FC Vorwärts and led them from the district league to the GDR league. He then worked as an assistant coach and at times interim coach with the first team. Hamann then looked after various subclass clubs in the state of Brandenburg and the U-21 national team of Vietnam . In July 2009 Hamann took over the men's team at Angermünder FC, which plays in the Brandenburg State League.

Private

Hamann became a member of the SED in 1964 . After a contact conversation in February 1968, on January 23, 1970, he pledged to maintain confidentiality and was henceforth listed as IMS Paul Hase in the files. After joining the coaching staff, he was re-registered as GMS in 1980 and again as IMS in 1986.
