Erich Hochleitner

Erich Hochleitner (born July 24, 1930 in Vienna ) is an Austrian diplomat , journalist and advisor in the field of European security policy.

Life

Erich Hochleitner was born in Vienna in 1930 and after graduating in 1948 studied law at the Lycée Francais Fulpmes in Vienna and economics at Stanford .

After joining the diplomatic service of the Republic of Austria in 1956, he worked in the international law office in the Foreign Office and in the Austrian representations in Cairo and Brussels , before moving to the Ministry of Economic Affairs for four years in 1964. After returning to the foreign service, he represented Austria's interests in London , during the CSCE conference in Geneva, as ambassador in Lisbon and Brussels and subsequently as a permanent representative before the WEU and NATO authorities .

Since his retirement in 1996, he has headed the Austrian Institute for European Security Policy (ÖIES, now AIES) in Hunyadi Castle in Maria Enzersdorf . He also has a teaching position in the course of European integration at Danube University Krems .

Since 1952 he has been a member of the Catholic student association KÖHV Nordgau Wien in the ÖCV .
