Erich Mattern

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Erich Mattern (* 1904 in Hofgeismar ; † 1966 in Hamm ) was a German architect . He was the younger brother of the landscape architect Hermann Mattern .

With its offices in Düsseldorf, Siegen and Hamm, Mattern created numerous large buildings and settlements with up to 50 employees - mainly in North Rhine-Westphalia. After Mattern drew attention to himself in the years 1930 to 1939 with houses in the Bauhaus style and cinema buildings in the eastern Ruhr area, under his leadership from 1946 settlements with over 12,000 apartments were built in Bonn, Düsseldorf, Siegen and the Ruhr area, which are characterized by clear and designed floor plans tailored to the needs of the residents. Other construction tasks included hospitals, schools and other public buildings as well as public spaces such as the market square in Heessen . The focus of all architectural considerations has always been on people.
