Erich Steinbeck

Erich Steinbeck (born September 9, 1892 in Witten , † June 22, 1960 in Berlin ) was a German politician ( CDU ).

Erich Steinbeck attended a grammar school and passed the Abitur . He trained in drug and chemical trafficking and studied at a technical college for chemistry. He worked as a technical businessman and chemist . During the First World War he was drafted in 1916 and then became a French prisoner of war . From 1920 to 1942 Steinbeck worked at Telefunken -Schallplatten GmbH and finally at Rohstoff-Handelsgesellschaft.

After the Second World War , Steinbeck joined the CDU in 1945. In the first Berlin election in 1946 , he was elected to the district assembly in the Kreuzberg district and immediately elected to the district council for health care of Kreuzberg. In the next election in 1948 he was elected as a district councilor at the same time in the city ​​council of Greater Berlin . In the further elections in 1950 and 1954 Steinbeck was elected to the Berlin House of Representatives, but left after a few weeks because of his work as a district councilor. In 1958 he rejected the mandate despite his re-election in parliament, in 1959 he resigned as a district councilor in Kreuzberg for reasons of age.

From 1947 to 1951 Steinbeck was chairman of the CDU Kreuzberg.
