Erich von Botzheim

Erich Freiherr von Botzheim (born January 10, 1871 in Mattsies Castle ; † March 28, 1958 in Munich ) was a German officer , most recently lieutenant general and from 1925 to 1926 head of the Army Weapons Office (HWA).

Life

origin

He was a son of the Grand Ducal Hessian Lieutenant Ferdinand von Botzheim (1837-1892), lord of Castle and Gut Mattsies , which his mother Sophie Johanna Maria Freifrau von Botzheim had acquired in 1854, and of Sophie Henriette Agathe, born in Yverdon . de Rougemont (1845-1915). When his father died in 1892, the castle and estate Mattsies passed to Erich von Botzheim and his siblings Albert and Luise as joint property. The siblings then sold the property to their cousin Walter von Rougemont.

Military career

Botzheim graduated from the Bavarian War Academy with the 31st course (1898–1901). He served as an officer in World War I , in World War II he was in command of the Königstein Fortress and then in command of the prisoners of war in Wehrkreis IV (Dresden) .

Erich von Botzheim was married to Henriette Freiin von Imhoff , sister of Major General of the Air Force Sigmund von Imhoff . The marriage resulted in their son Albert Ferdinand Gustav and their daughter Edith von Botzheim in 1902.

Titles and awards

In 1893 he was appointed Royal Bavarian Chamberlain ; 1904 chamberlain . In 1914 he received the EK II and I class. He was also the bearer of the Royal Prussian Red Eagle Order IV. Class, the Royal Bavarian Military Merit Order III. Class with swords, the Royal Bavarian Service Award Cross II. Class and the Cross of Honor for Frontline Fighters .
