Erich von Neusser , also Erich Neusser (born October 23, 1902 in Brno , Austria-Hungary ; † August 28, 1957 in Vienna , Austria ) was an Austrian film production manager and producer.

Life

Neusser had attended the commercial academy in Vienna and in 1924 went to the UFA acting school in Berlin . In 1925 he was taken over by the UFA and initially worked there as assistant director, unit manager (e.g. for Der Convict von Stambul in 1929 ) and production assistant, most recently under the producer Günther Stapenhorst .

Neussers rise from shooting to production was accompanied by the seizure of power by the Nazis in January 1933. As early supporter of the NSDAP he made on April 1, 1933, the removal of the Jewish director Kurt Gerron , the middle, the shooting of the film Amor at the leash . Together with another favorite of the new regime, the director Hans Steinhoff , Neusser finished the film, which was to be premiered in June 1933 as a child, I'm looking forward to your coming . A few months after the annexation of Austria by Hitler Germany in 1938, he returned to Vienna and took over the post of deputy head of production at the newly founded Wien-Film , for which, in addition to classic entertainment productions, he also produced Gustav Ucicky's famous adaptation of Pushkin's The Postmaster and his propaganda film Homecoming made. In 1944, Erich von Neusser switched to the production group leader for Prag-Film in the German-occupied Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia .

Back in Vienna, Neusser's first post-war work was the Beethoven biography Eroica , which he was in charge of as production manager. A little later (1950) he and his brother Fritz Neusser (1903–1971) founded their own production company, Neusser-Film GmbH, with which Neusser exclusively produced productions by the director Franz Antel .
