The Mount Smart Stadium is a rugby - and football stadium in the suburb of Penrose of the New Zealand capital of Auckland . The facility is the home ground of the New Zealand Warriors from the National Rugby League (NRL).

history

It is located near Mount Smart and is about 10  kilometers from the city center. The construction of the Mount Smart Stadium started in 1965 and officially opened in mid-1967. Games of the New Zealand national soccer team in qualifying for the 1982 World Cup were played here. In the 1980s, the grandstand wall was also used for bungee jumping . Mount Smart Stadium was the main venue for the 1990 Commonwealth Games . It found u. a the athletics competitions take place. The sports facility is now owned by the City of Auckland and operated by Auckland Stadiums.

In addition to sports, the stadium is used as a concert arena. The artists and bands include a. Ed Sheeran , Adele , Bon Jovi , Queen + Adam Lambert , Elton John , Michael Jackson , Janet Jackson , Pearl Jam , Ricky Martin , Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds , U2 and Eric Clapton .
