Erika Kustatscher

Erika Kustatscher (* 1963 in Brixen ) is an Italian archivist and historian from South Tyrol .

Kustatscher attended the Vinzentinum Humanistic High School in Brixen and then studied history , German and classical philology at the University of Innsbruck . 1987 doctorate it with a dissertation on the Lords of Taufers . From 1988 to 1990 she worked at the South Tyrolean Provincial Archives and at the same time completed training in palaeography , diplomacy and archival studies at the Bolzano State Archives . In 1990 she started working as a high school teacher.

Her academic work focuses on social history, church history and source editions with reference to Tyrolean regional history. In 1994, Kustatscher was awarded the Walther von der Vogelweide Prize of the South Tyrolean Cultural Institute for her achievements , the Tyrolean State Prize for Science in 1996 and the Theodor Körner Prize in 2002, and in 2011 was a lecturer at the University of Innsbruck at the Institute for History and European Studies Ethnology.

As part of the creation of joint textbooks for the history lesson of all three South Tyrolean language groups, Kustatscher was commissioned with Carlo Romeo to develop the first volume in the series Transitions and Perspectives , which appeared in 2010 and covers the period up to the late Middle Ages. She was also involved in the second volume, which covers the history of South Tyrol up to the end of the First World War.

In 2014, Kustatscher obtained her habilitation in Innsbruck . Since 2017 she has been managing the diocesan archive of Bressanone on behalf of the Curia Bozen-Brixen ; she thus took over from Eduard Scheiber.
