Erin Corr
Mathieu "Erin" Corr (* 1803 in Brussels , † August 10, 1862 in Paris ) was a Belgian engraver and engraver of Irish descent.
Life
Erin Corr was a son of Mathieu Corr (1776-1853) and Monique Landy. His parents came from Ireland and had settled in Brussels in 1802, where they opened a luxury shoe shop for "bespoke boots".
Originally he wanted to become a goldsmith, but then went to Paris to the Collège des Irlandais . Returned to Belgium and learned the craft of engraving at the Academy in Antwerp with De Meulemeester. Back in Paris he worked for the British Wedgwood and Forster . Later (1832 or 1836?) He succeeded De Meulemeester as professor. Erin Corr's students include: a. Michel Charles Antoine Verswyvel.

He was one of the illustrators and engravers who worked on the magazine La Belgique horticole, journal des jardins et des vergers (35 volumes, 1851 to 1885) published by the Belgian botanist Charles François Antoine Morren and his father Charles Jacques Édouard Morren .
Another artist of the magazine was u. a. also Corr's pupil Jozef Linnig .

Erin Corr married Theodora van den Poel, who was born in Wakken ( West Flanders ) on October 16, 1818 (daughter of Theodoor Van den Poel and Victoria Lovie).

- Isabelle Marie Françoise (Fanny) Geefs-Corr (born May 2, 1807 in Brussels, † January 23, 1883 in Schaerbeek ) was a painter. She was married to Guillaume (Wilhelm) Geefs, a brother of Joseph Geefs , Jean Geefs and Charles Geefs .
- Henry Jean Baptiste Corr (also Henri Corr) (1810-1875); He was a painter and civil engineer and married to Baroness Aimée de t'Serclaes de Kessel (1829–1879), a cousin of Émile de t'Serclaes de Wommersom (born August 28, 1809 in Brussels; † May 25, 1880 in Gent )
