The Erlenbach in the Palatinate Forest ( Palatinate region , Rhineland-Palatinate state ) is the strongest source creek of the Speyerbach , the largest surface water in the Vorderpfalz , and is hydrologically regarded as its main source.
geography
course
The Erlenbach rises east of the Palatinate main watershed on the 608.3 m high Eschkopf massif at a height of 460 m . The source is contained in the hussar well .
After running 5 km in a northerly direction, the Erlenbach joins the Speyerbrunn district of Elmstein with the Speyerbach near its nominal source pond, which extends to the left of the Erlenbach. Therefore, the source of the Erlenbach is considered to be the actual Speyerbach source.
From the hussar well to the confluence with the Rhine in Speyer , the Erlenbach / Speyerbach system is 60 km long and has a catchment area of 596 km².
