Erlkam is a district in the north of the Holzkirchen market in the Upper Bavarian district of Miesbach .

geography

The village is located on the Teufelsgraben , a depression created by the Ice Age glacier, which runs approximately in a west-east direction to the Mangfall Gorge, at an altitude of about 677  m . The neighboring villages are south of Holzkirchen, east of Föching and north-west of Otterfing .

history

A Celtic settlement can be proven from around 2,500 years ago. The small village owes its name to the Eckfeld parcel in which it is located; the name Erlkam appears on the maps from around 1860.

The Bavarian original cadastre shows Erlkam in the 1810s as an unnamed hamlet with seven hearths. To the north of the settlement you can see the listed local chapel from the 18th century and an approximately 750 m² large pond , which, as a heavenly pond, has no surface inlet and outlet. Infrastructure and sights

The village is home to several farms. In the middle of the village there is a fire water pond with a small devotional chapel . A local farm was converted into a house for the Regens Wagner Foundation .

Culture

According to the Bavarian and German tradition, Erlkam organizes the erection of a maypole every 4 years , which takes place in the center of the Löschwasserteich and the chapel and enjoys the regular participation of the villagers, but also of visitors from the surrounding communities.
