Ernst-Rüdiger Kiesow

Ernst-Rüdiger Kiesow (born January 9, 1926 in Schönhagen , † June 16, 2003 in Rostock ) was a Protestant theologian.

biography

After studying theology in Greifswald and Berlin , he became an assistant to Otto Haendler in Berlin. His dissertation took place in 1955, in 1962 he received his habilitation with a thesis on Carl Gustav Jung .

He was parish priest in Berlin-Pankow . On September 1, 1965, he was appointed professor of practical theology at the University of Rostock. From 1968 to 1970 he was dean of the theological faculty. In the University Senate, he refused to sign a statement welcoming the Warsaw Pact invasion of Prague in 1968.

Kiesow was a member of the regional synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Mecklenburg and for 15 years of the synod of the Federation of Evangelical Churches in the GDR .

In 1983 Kiesow was made an honorary doctorate from the University of Helsinki and in 1994 an honorary senator of the University of Rostock .
